The main reason live steam continues to become more scarce in the United States is due to the high costs associated with operating and maintaining steam locomotives. CSSPA was created to keep steam locomotives operational for the public to experience them and to educate people about the technology that helped build the U.S. into the great country it is today. CSSPA's members come from all over the world to help keep this mission alive.
